Location Infrastructure
bleenc® location infrastructure is based on a hybrid two-level architecture, aimed at simplifying system design while ensuring reliable performance, maximum flexibility of use and high scalability.
Gateway Backbone
The core of the location infrastructure is based on a backbone of BLE gateways.
This backbone provides real-time tracking and monitoring of bleenc tags and other BLE devices (tags, labels, sensors).
Gateways deliver real-time information on:
🔹zone and area location
🔹geofencing
🔹presence detection and access control
🔹device status monitoring
🔹alarm call and alerts

Two connectovity options are available for gateway backbone:
- Ethernet (PoE): uses a single cable for both data and power, simplifying installation and management;
- WiFi Mesh: offers greater flexibility and faster setup without the need for full data cabling.

Beacon Network
The location infrastructure can include an additional layer of BLE beacons for less-frequent location of bleenc tags with increased accuracy (e.g. room or workstation localization)
Beacon network is cable-free, offering maximum flexibility and low cost for installation. Thanks to low power consumption, beacons can be battery-powered or leverage energy harvesting.
Pinpoint location data can be retrieved:
🔹on-demand (via downlink commands sent to tags)
🔹on-event (e.g., SOS events)
🔹on-intervals (configurable periodic updates)
By combining the gateway backbone with the beacon network, bleenc® offers a flexible hybrid location infrastructure, suitable for a wide range of indoor monitoring, localization and tracking applications and use cases.
